Spiraling Texturing Tool

The texture adds more tactility to the turns and a more three-dimensional look. This set includes a texture cutter that can be used on hardwood or softwood to give character to any turn. Also try using the included spiral cutter to create different texture patterns.

The three spiral cutters included in the set allow turners to create barley twists to decorate boxes, candlesticks, stemware, and many other projects. Similar to threading, a lathe ideally must be able to operate at a low speed of 300-400 RPM with the tool applied and running in the direction of the turn. The tool comes with a stand for setting the spiral angle and is marked so that the same pattern can be repeated.

To sharpen simply use a diamond file or honing stone on the bevel. For best results and to extend the life of your knives, this simple process should be done less and more often. Sharpening can be accomplished with a cutter mounted on the tool.
